Job summary

Mercor, a UK-based talent partner for AI research labs, seeks a Data Engineer to design and own production data pipelines for AI model training. This remote contract runs from 14 September to 10 October 2026 with a 40-hour week.

You will work with Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks on AWS, GCP, or Azure, using SQL and Python for ETL/ELT data flows. UK-residency and right to work are required.

Qualifications

• Data Engineers with experience in building and owning pipelines in production.
• Proficiency in SQL and Python.
• Experience with ETL, ELT, orchestration, streaming, and data warehousing.
• Must be based in the United Kingdom and have the right to work in the United Kingdom.

Responsibilities

• Produce professional documents and deliverables in Data Engineering.
• Collaborate with experts from other domains to build tasks and rubrics for AI model training.
• Utilize a core stack of SQL and Python for ETL and ELT processes.
• Work with tools like Spark, Kafka, Airflow, dbt, Snowflake, BigQuery, and Databricks on AWS, GCP, or Azure.
• Document and structure work to enhance AI model evaluation.
• Operate on a UK business-hours rhythm while maintaining independent work.
