Qualifications

  • At least five years of experience producing user interface designs with demonstrated impact.
  • Experience with Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and the basics of front-end web development.
  • Comfort with content design and UX writing, plus basics of digital marketing, SEO, and content strategy.
  • Expert UI design methods including prototyping, interaction flow diagrams, wireframes, and interface specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to all stages of the design process, including wireframing layouts, creating mockups for multiple screen sizes, and producing UI documentation for hand-off to developers.
  • Represent users through UI decisions reflecting accessibility needs across devices.
  • Participate in UX research to develop design solutions aligned with user goals.
  • Integrate UX findings and brand identity into reusable design patterns for usability and experience.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to improve navigation schemes and interaction patterns.

Job description

Hollstadt Consulting is seeking a UI/UX Designer to help shape experiences across digital environments for diverse audiences. This contract role is remote within Minnesota and centers on translating user insights into practical, accessible interface designs through iterative prototyping and collaboration with content and front-end partners.

Role scope

The UI/UX Designer contributes across the full design process, from early layout thinking to UI documentation and developer hand-off. You will work alongside UX researchers to understand user needs, test visual approaches through prototype testing, and refine interface patterns in partnership with content specialists and front-end developers.

  • Contribute to all stages of the design process, including wireframing website layouts, creating mockups at multiple screen sizes, and producing UI documentation for hand-off to developers.
  • Represent users through UI decisions that reflect best practices across device types and accessibility needs.
  • Participate in user experience research to develop design solutions aligned with user goals.
  • Integrate UX findings and brand identity into reusable design patterns that enhance both usability and experience.
  • Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to improve navigation schemes, interaction patterns, and digital storytelling.
  • Build familiarity with a component-based content management system and work with content contributors to create engaging webpage layouts.
  • Develop and adapt design specifications for front-end developers, accounting for feasibility and performance constraints.
Required experience and skills
  • At least five (5) years of experience producing user interface designs with demonstrated impact.
  • Experience with Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD.
  • Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and the basics of front-end web development.
  • Comfort with content design and UX writing, along with basics of digital marketing, search engine optimization, and content strategy.
  • Expert UI design methods including prototyping, interaction flow diagrams, wireframes, and interface specifications, plus strong visual design judgment.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of modern digital and interaction design principles and trends.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills to clearly explain complex design problems and solutions.
  • Accessibility-focused approach to digital products, including optimization for assistive technologies.
  • A portfolio demonstrating deliverables throughout the design process for products and/or websites is helpful.
Preferred background
  • Health care or higher education experience (plus).
