Responsibilities

• Performs basic and advanced respiratory therapeutic procedures for diverse patient populations by order of the physician.
• Assembles, checks, and corrects malfunctions and performs quality controls on respiratory care equipment.
• Initiates, maintains, and discontinues mechanical ventilation for adult, pediatric, and neonatal patients.
• Communicates effectively with the health care team regarding patient care.
• Assists with patient and family education and participates in quality improvement activities.
• Maintains clinical competency and adheres to established standards of practice.
• Performs diagnostic procedures as ordered by the physician.
• Maintains patient safety and infection control throughout duties.
• Demonstrates the ability to perform department competencies.
