Nano Nuclear Energy in Oak Ridge, TN is seeking a UF6 Deconversion / Oxide Production Process Engineer to develop and scale processes that convert UF6 into uranium oxide products for downstream fuel-cycle and manufacturing applications.

This role is hands-on, involving lab and demonstration facilities to advance process chemistry, thermal treatment, and powder handling while translating results into scalable improvements. Hybrid work with relocation support is available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical, nuclear, or related field.
• Experience in uranium oxide production and deconversion.
• Hands-on lab, bench, pilot, or demonstration systems."
• Ability to connect process variables to powder chemistry and physical properties.
• Experience preparing test plans and documenting results.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize UF6 deconversion processes, including feed introduction and product conditioning.
• Evaluate how process conditions affect oxide chemistry, particle size, morphology, density, and downstream performance.
• Execute laboratory and demonstration campaigns, including startup, sampling, inspection, troubleshooting, and reviews.
• Develop thermal-processing approaches for target product properties.
• Improve powder collection, transfer, and sampling while minimizing contamination.
• Define off-gas and HF-management requirements with process and safety engineers.
• Coordinate product specifications with related teams and maintain development records.
