AMPI seeks a Production Operative in Paynesville, MN to operate dairy processing equipment and maintain quality controls across Milk/Whey departments. You will monitor readings, log data, and support CIP procedures while ensuring safety policies and GMP compliance.

Experience in dairy manufacturing or related production is preferred; High School diploma or GED is expected. This entry-level role offers training, teamwork, and opportunities to grow within AMPI.

• Take readings and log variables; maintain proper documentation.
• Unloading chemicals on delivery; assist with CIP procedures and equipment maintenance.
• Communicate with supervisor and other shifts; assist with training new employees.

Description

AMPI owns six Midwest-based manufacturing plants where 10 percent of the nation’s American-type cheese and processed cheese is produced. The cooperative’s award-winning cheese and powdered dairy products are marketed to foodservice, retail and food ingredient customers. In 2019, the co-op launched its Dinner Bell Creamery brand and accompanying Co-op Crafted promise, highlighting more than 50 years of dairy farm families partnering with skilled cheesemakers.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

• All AMPI employees have an obligation to report employee safety, food safety and food quality issues to personnel of authority.
• This position has a heightened food safety and food quality responsibilities.
• Operate dairy processing equipment including Milk Silo’s, Milk UF, Milk HTST, Milk Separator, Cream HTST, Cream Tanks, Whey Silo’s, Whey Separators, Whey HTST, Dryer CIP.
• Learn and execute procedures of all equipment.
• Adjust on all the equipment. depending on the type of product to be produced.
• Taking frequent readings and logging variables.
• Unloading check on chemicals upon delivery.
• Operating Clean in Place (CIP) procedures; troubleshoot and maintain machinery.
• Operate and clean all the pieces of dairy processing equipment that is involved with the Milk / Whey department.
• Communicate well between supervisor, other shifts and departments.
• Verify quality control items such as product samples.
• Maintain proper documentation in all formats of recordkeeping.
• Operate various machines at an efficient level to fulfill plant demands.
• Assist coworkers with tasks and duties that are within the department as assigned.
• Assist with general cleaning and housekeeping throughout the plant as needed.
• Assists with training new employees.
• Aids the maintenance personnel, when needed, for machine repairs or troubleshooting.
• Adhere to all Quality and Food Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
• Adhere to all Safety policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
• Adhere to all GMP policies and procedures, reporting any nonconformity.
• Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE:
