Shield AI is seeking an Engineer II, Structural Analysis to support the structural analysis and testing of advanced UAVs. You will work with Mechanical, Systems, Propulsion, and Aerospace engineers to ensure airframe integrity while balancing weight, strength, and manufacturability.

With 2+ years of experience, you will gain expertise in FEA, composite materials, mechanical testing, and aircraft loads analysis in a fast-paced aerospace environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering
• 2+ years in structural analysis, FEM, or aircraft loads analysis
• Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, NASTRAN, HyperWorks)
• Ability to perform hand calculations for strength, stability, and fatigue
• Knowledge of composite materials and lightweight aerospace structures
• Familiarity with mechanical testing (static, vibration, fatigue)
• Proficiency with data analysis tools (Excel, MATLAB, Python)
• CAD exposure (NX, SolidWorks) and PLM tools (Teamcenter)
• Awareness of aerospace industry standards, certification processes, and material selection
• Hands-on experience in structural testing, modal analysis, or composite modeling

Responsibilities

• Build and refine FEMs to evaluate UAV components
• Perform static, modal, fatigue, and vibration analyses
• Conduct hand calculations to validate FEA results
• Collaborate with design engineers to optimize airframe structures
• Support development of test plans for structural validation
• Analyze flight telemetry and test data to improve models
• Define load cases, material properties, and design margins
• Document structural analysis reports and recommendations
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to meet system goals
• Contribute to improving analysis methodologies and tools
