Job summary

Quanta Aviation Services is seeking FAA Part 107 Remote Pilots for temporary, project-based UAS field support across the Central United States to support utility infrastructure inspection and data collection.

You will fly, capture high-resolution imagery, follow procedures, and maintain safe operations while traveling across sites; contractors will be paid weekly and onboarding provided.

Qualifications

  • Previous utility infrastructure UAS inspection experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency operating multirotor UAS in field environments.
  • Strong understanding of Part 107 regulations, airspace requirements, weather limitations, and safe UAS operations.
  • Experience capturing consistent, high-quality inspection imagery using defined capture requirements.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout the Central United States.
  • Ability to support a six-day field workweek for the duration of assigned field work.
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods in varying weather, terrain, and environmental conditions.
  • Ability to use mobile applications, cloud-based project tools, and digital data-management systems.
  • Strong attention to detail, independent work habits, professional communication, and a safety-focused approach.

Job description

Quanta Aviation Services is seeking qualified FAA Part 107 Remote Pilots for temporary, project-based UAS field support assignments in the Central United States.

Pilots will support utility infrastructure inspection and data collection activities using established flight, safety, and capture procedures. The work requires safe aircraft operation, consistent data quality, strong attention to detail, and the ability to operate independently in varying field conditions.

This opportunity is intended for experienced UAS professionals who are comfortable with travel, field operations, and production-focused inspection work.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Conduct UAS flights supporting utility infrastructure inspection and data collection.
  • Capture high-resolution imagery and other required data of utility assets and associated infrastructure.
  • Follow established flight procedures, capture requirements, project specifications, and quality standards.
  • Maintain safe operations and compliance with FAA Part 107 requirements.
  • Perform preflight planning, airspace reviews, weather assessments, site assessments, and equipment inspections.
  • Identify and manage field hazards including roads, energized infrastructure, terrain, vegetation, people, aircraft, and environmental conditions.
  • Coordinate with project personnel and field leadership as required.
  • Review collected data in the field to confirm completeness and quality before leaving assigned areas.
  • Maintain accurate flight, production, and field records; organize and upload collected data according to project requirements.
  • Promptly report access issues, equipment concerns, safety issues, and data-quality exceptions.
  • Maintain aircraft, batteries, controllers, sensors, and supporting equipment in field-ready condition.
  • Complete required project onboarding and project-specific training.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous utility infrastructure UAS inspection experience.
  • Demonstrated proficiency operating multirotor UAS in field environments.
  • Strong understanding of Part 107 regulations, airspace requirements, weather limitations, and safe UAS operations.
  • Experience capturing consistent, high-quality inspection imagery using defined capture requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Transmission and/or distribution utility inspection experience.
  • Experience with linear corridor inspection programs.
  • Experience operating commercial and enterprise UAS platforms.
  • Familiarity with RTK/GNSS workflows, mapping, photogrammetry, or geospatial data collection.
  • Experience working around energized utility infrastructure.
  • Experience supporting production-oriented UAS field programs.
  • OSHA, utility safety, first aid/CPR, or similar field-safety training.
PHYSICAL AND FIELD REQUIREMENTS
  • Walk and work on uneven or unimproved terrain.
  • Carry UAS equipment, batteries, sensors, and supporting field gear.
  • Enter and exit vehicles repeatedly throughout the field day.
  • Work outdoors for extended periods and travel between inspection locations throughout the day.
  • Safely operate near roads and utility rights-of-way while maintaining required separation and safety requirements.
CONTRACTOR REQUIREMENTS

This is an independent contractor (1099) assignment. Contractors are responsible for maintaining the licenses, qualifications, insurance, and other requirements applicable to the services they provide.

Unless otherwise specified in an individual contractor agreement, contractors are responsible for their own travel to and from the work area, lodging, meals/per diem expenses, ground transportation and vehicle expenses, and personal field equipment.

Project-specific aircraft, sensors, software, or other equipment may be provided depending on assignment requirements. Contractors must successfully complete required onboarding and demonstrate proficiency with applicable aircraft, sensors, capture procedures, safety requirements, and data-quality standards before performing assigned field work.

SCHEDULE AND PAYMENT

Assignments are temporary and project-based. Field schedules generally operate six days per week, subject to weather, access, operational requirements, and other field conditions.

Contractors will be paid weekly in accordance with the terms of their executed independent contractor agreement.
