Alaka'i Technologies in Stow, MA is seeking a UAS Engineering Technician to join our design-build-test team for hydrogen powered UAV systems. You will fabricate avionics and powertrain components and assemble mechanical structures, helping to advance our R&D lifecycle.

You will read schematics, route wiring harnesses, support ground and flight tests, and continually improve build processes. A self-starter with hands-on fabrication experience and the ability to work under deadlines will thrive in

• Experience wiring, soldering, crimping, and harness fabrication.
• Familiarity with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies).
• Able to read engineering schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Capable of meeting deadlines with or without supervision; multi-task in a fast-paced environment.

At Alaka'i Technologies our mission is to enable hydrogen air mobility as a solution for clean travel and logistics networks. We currently have the opportunity to add a UAS Engineering Technician to our passionate team of trailblazers!

UAS Engineering Technician

Job Summary: The UAS Engineering Technician will sit between design, build and test of hydrogen powered UAV aircraft systems. This includes primarily the fabrication of avionics and electrical powertrain systems but extends to the mechanical assembly of prototype aircraft. The candidate will be involved at the very beginning of the design process, helping to iterate quickly and effectively as Alaka’i works through the R&D lifecycle. The environment is highly collaborative and requires a self-starter to navigate and contribute to the company’s next steps.

Duties/Responsibilities:

• Build and route wiring harnesses, preform test and validation
• Collaborate closely with engineers to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and test plans
• Assemble metallic and composite mechanical assemblies
• Support ground and flight test prep
• Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical issues during build, integration, and maintenance
• Improve build processes, tooling and repeatability over time
• Maintain accurate build records, test documentation, and configuration logs

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Experience with wiring, soldering, crimping, and harness fabrication
• Familiarity with electrical test equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies)
• Comfort reading and working from engineering schematics and wiring diagrams
• Work within deadlines with or without direct supervision.
• Multi-task in a fast-paced dynamic environment

Bonus:

• Experience with composite manufacturing
• UAS maintenance background
• A&P License
• Analog / digital circuit design, software design and troubleshooting.
• Experience with PCBs
• CAD skills
• Electric propulsion background
• Fuel cell and high discharge battery experience
• Experience with High Voltage DC systems
• Education and Experience:
• 3+ years of real electrical/ mechanical systems fabrication experience

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to lift to 30 pounds at a time.
