Job summary

Redwire Defense Tech is seeking an Application Software Engineer II to develop and maintain operator-facing software for unmanned aircraft systems, including ground control, mission planning, telemetry visualization, and workflow execution. You will work with software, avionics, systems, and test engineers to deliver well-tested, reliable software.

The role emphasizes requirements implementation, code quality, verification and validation, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
• 2+ years of professional software development experience or equivalent.
• Proficiency in one or more languages: C#, Python, C++, or Java.
• Experience designing, developing, testing, and debugging software applications.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle.
• Ability to read and implement software requirements and documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain operator-facing application software for UAS ground control, mission planning, telemetry visualization, and mission execution workflows.
• Implement features and resolve defects per requirements and design guidance.
• Participate in technical reviews to ensure quality, reliability, and maintainability.
• Plan and execute unit, integration, and system tests to verify functionality.
• Support verification and validation with defined objectives and data collection.
• Build internal tools and automation to improve development and operations workflows.
• Identify, investigate, and report software defects and integration issues.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate software across the UAS ecosystem.
