Job summary

United States-based U-Haul is seeking a General Manager to lead a moving and storage center in Houston, TX. You will oversee staff, inventory, and equipment while driving profitability and customer satisfaction.

The role requires 1–3 years in retail/service management with P&L accountability, along with strong computer and organizational skills. Weekend/holiday work and a valid driver’s license are expected. Center leadership and ongoing training are provided.

Position Summary

U-Haul is looking for a responsible, motivated and thoughtful person to manage one of our moving and storage centers. As General Manager you will be responsible for keeping your center profitable and efficient by hiring effective staff, keeping track of inventory and managing equipment. Minimum Requirements

• 1-3 years of management experience in retail or another service industry with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction.
• Computer expertise.
• Organizational expertise.
• Management proficiency in high-volume retail with profit and loss (P&L) accountability.
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Able to work weekends and holidays.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, fumes or irritating chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods both indoors and outdoors of remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
