Job summary

U-Haul is seeking a capable General Manager to lead a moving and storage center, driving profitability and efficiency through staff leadership, inventory control, and equipment management. You will solve problems as they arise and ensure exceptional customer care.

The position includes hands-on interviews with pay, opportunities for advancement, and a broad benefits package including medical plans, retirement, training through U-Haul University, and various employee programs.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1-3 years of management experience in retail or service with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction.
• Computer proficiency and ability to manage P&L.

As General Manager you will be responsible for keeping your center profitable and efficient by hiring effective staff, keeping track of inventory and managing equipment. General Manager Responsibilities

• Manage the fleet to deliver clean and well-maintained equipment.
• Perform profit/loss analyses.

• Clean and monitor the premises, and maintain a secure environment.

Minimum Requirements

• 1-3 years of management experience in retail or another service industry with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction
• Computer expertise
• Organizational expertise
• Management proficiency in high-volume retail with profit and loss (P&L) accountability
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to work weekends and holidays

Work Environment

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, fumes or irritating chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.

Physical Demands

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods both indoors and outdoors of remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
