Job summary

U-Haul is seeking a responsible General Manager to run one of its moving and storage centers. You will hire and mentor staff, manage inventory and equipment, and drive profitability through effective operations.

Qualifications

• 1-3 years of management experience in retail or service industry with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction.
• Computer expertise and organizational skills are required.
• Management proficiency in high-volume retail with P&L accountability is essential.
• Valid driver’s license with good driving record.

Responsibilities

• Manage the fleet to deliver clean, well-maintained equipment and services.
• Perform profit/loss analyses to ensure center profitability.
• Hire and mentor new team members and manage personnel budget.
• Track and itemize inventory and ensure customer care at highest level.
• Maintain secure premises and monitor fuel receipts and petty cash.
• Participate in ongoing training through U-Haul University.

As General Manager you will be responsible for keeping your center profitable and efficient by hiring effective staff, keeping track of inventory and managing equipment. General Manager Responsibilities:

• Manage the fleet to deliver clean and well-maintained equipment.
• Perform profit/loss analyses.
• Hire and mentor new team members.
• Manage the personnel budget.
• Track and itemize inventory.
• Ensure that customers receive the highest level of care
• Keep track of fuel receipts and petty cash.
• Clean and monitor the premises, and maintain a secure environment.
• Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University.

Minimum Requirements:

• 1-3 years of management experience in retail or another service industry with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction
• Computer expertise
• Organizational expertise
• Management proficiency in a high-volume retail operation with profit and loss (P&L) accountability
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Able to work weekends and holidays

Work Environment:

The work involves moderate risks or discomforts which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, machines, fumes or irritating chemicals. May be required to use protective clothing or gear such as masks, goggles, gloves or shields.

Physical Demands:

The work requires some physical exertion such as long periods both indoors and outdoors of remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to reach and use tools, and moving a minimum of 50 lbs assisted or unassisted.
