Job summary

Mohawk Industries is seeking a manufacturing operator in Rome, GA. You will set up and operate yarn-twisting machinery, load material, monitor production, and ensure quality and safety standards on the line.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma and prior yarn/manufacturing experience preferred. This role includes training, adherence to procedures, and routine housekeeping to maintain efficient production.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and tend to machines used to twist yarn.
• Creel yarn packages and load yarn into twister.
• Reposition buggies and stage tubes for winding operations.
• Thread yarn ends, operate spindle, and repair breakouts during runs.
• Doff twisted yarn packages and transfer them to a buggy or container.
• Monitor production and machine safety for efficient operation.
• Clean and dechoke spindles to keep machines productive.
• Perform quality checks using inspection methods.
• Adhere to SOPs and safety procedures; participate in training as required.
• Maintain general housekeeping and support management as needed.

Primary Objective

In broad terms, briefly state the major purpose of primary objective of this position.

• Set up, operate, and tend to many machines organized into a frame that twist yarn together.

Major Function and Scope

• Creel single or double ply yarn packages and load yarn into twister
• Reposition buggies of yarn at the twisters and stage tubes for winder operation
• Thread ends of single yarns, operate the spindle, and repair breakouts during production runs
• Doff twisted yarn packages and transfer them from the conveyor to a buggy/container
• Monitor production output and machine equipment for safe and efficient operation
• Clean and dechoke spindles to maintain machine efficiency and meet production requirements
• Perform quality checks using black lights to check yarn
• Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision
• Follow all established standard operating and safety procedures as well as company policies
• Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary
• Perform other tasks assigned by management

Knowledge, Experience, Certifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Successful completion of all required on the job training
• Successful completion of all required health and environmental safety training
• Previous Yarn or Manufacturing experience is preferred
