Job summary

Collier County Public Schools seeks a Tutor, ELL to provide instructional support to English Language Learners under school administration and staff. You will help students develop English language proficiency and academic skills while supporting classroom instruction in a positive learning environment.

High school diploma and passing score on paraprofessional exam, or 60 college credits, or an Associate’s degree are required. Bilingual skills are preferred to support diverse learner needs.

Qualifications

• Two years of study at an institution of higher education; or an Associate’s degree (or higher).
• Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Creole/French preferred.
• Basic computer skills required (email, Excel and Word).
• ParaPro Assessment knowledge may be demonstrated as appropriate.

Responsibilities

• Providing academic and language support to ELL students individually and in small groups.
• Assisting teachers with instructional activities and classroom support.
• Monitoring student progress and encouraging engagement in learning.
• Supporting communication efforts with students and families when appropriate.

Minimum Requirements (Education/Experience)

Two years of study at an institution of higher education; or an Associate�s degree (or higher); or demonstrate through a formal state or local academic assessment (ParaPro Assessment) knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics, as appropriate and knowledge of, and the ability to assist in instructing reading readiness, writing readiness, and mathematics readiness as appropriate. Must be bilingual English/Spanish or English/ Creole/ French. Basic computer skills required (i.e., ability to use email, Excel and Word).
