Job summary

Shelby County Schools in Tennessee is seeking a dedicated instructional assistant licensed teacher to support students with academic, social and skill development in specified grades. The role focuses on tutoring, small-group work, and reinforcing classroom instruction.

You will plan enrichment activities, track progress, prepare materials, and collaborate closely with the classroom teacher to ensure students meet goals and standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Tennessee professional teaching license required.

Responsibilities

• Generates tutoring plans for each student that details individual goals and suggested enrichment activities for both home and during school; assesses and documents student progress.
• Develops and assists students with academic exercises and class activities; concentrates efforts with small groups of students and individuals, as necessary.
• Compiles, prepares, and organizes materials and classroom for instruction and other learning activities
• Reinforces all knowledge and skills taught by the classroom teacher.
• Assists teacher with academic instruction and the instruction of daily routines, skills, and concepts as needed.
• Provides instructional support and reinforcement to students identified in need of tutoring services.
• Utilizes effective instructional practices, behavior management strategies, assessment techniques and directed teaching methods.
• Collects and compiles statistical data as needed for accountability and program development.
• Collects, organizes and completes information necessary for reports and evaluation.
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with teacher.

This position is responsible for the professional instructions designed to provide academic, social, physical, and skills development for students in specific grades/subject areas to prepare them to be successful citizens and workers

Minimum Qualifications

Graduated from an accredited college or university with Bachelor's degree. Valid Tennessee professional teacher's license. (PROOF OF EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND/OR EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED)

Degree Equivalency Formula:Bachelor's Degree= 4 years plus required years of experience.Master's Degree= 2 years plus required years of experience. Where Master's degrees are required, years for Bachelor's Degrees must be included.
