Job summary

Catapult Learning is seeking an In-Person Tutor in West Covina, CA to support math instruction for 2nd–6th grade students at California elementary schools including Cameron and Orangewood. The role focuses on afterschool sessions 1:00 PM–6:00 PM with roughly 5–8 hours weekly per tutor, with flexible full-time or part-time options.

The tutor will diagnose skill gaps, collaborate with school staff, and provide phonics-informed instruction using company materials.

Qualifications

• Non-licensed tutors: an associate degree or 48–72 credit hours.
• Licensed tutors: California-credentialed teachers.
• Background check (FBI/BCI) required.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Strong belief in all children learning.
• Ability to use online platforms for records.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose learning skill deficits and deliver prescribed methods.
• Coordinate with school personnel to provide services.
• Communicate student progress to parents.

  • These are all afterschool school: Range from as early as 1:00p.m. to as late as 6:00 p.m., and generally 5-8 hours per week, per tutor.

Tutors will provide contracted instructional services with the necessary educational expertise in reading, mathematics, and writing for students. Tutors must have an understanding of Phonics.

Responsibilities

As a tutor with Catapult Learning, you will:

• Diagnose learning skill deficits and delivers prescribed instructional delivery methods as determined by the Company
• Consult with school personnel to coordinate efforts in providing services to students
• Communicate and conference with parents providing information on student progress
• Deliver prescribed instructional delivery methods as determined by the Company
• Attend training sessions and deliver designated instructional models and strategies in readiness, reading, mathematics, and/or writing skills to students through the utilization of Company-designed materials and educational strategies.
• Develop and maintain individualized skill-appropriate lesson plans.
• Ensure supervision of students, including escorting students safely to and from sessions.
• Establish and maintain student forms and files as required by the Company, local, state, and/or federal agencies.
• Attend and document meetings/training with Company Supervisors, classroom teachers, principals, and parents as required by the Company, local, state, and/or federal agencies.
• Maintain inventory of educational materials and supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

What we’ll need from you:

The positive, enthusiastic tutor we seek has these qualifications.

• Non-licensed tutors: individuals with an associate degree (or higher) from an accredited institution of higher education; or at least two years of study at an accredited institution of higher education (defined as 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours).
• Licensed tutors: teachers with proper credentials recognized by the State of California as Properly Licensed Teacher.
• Tutors must complete an FBI/BCI background check.
• Teaching experience preferred.
• Unwavering belief that all children can learn.
• Ability to navigate online platforms for record keeping and communication.
• Have an understanding of phonics.
