Job summary

Catapult Learning is seeking an in-person After School Tutor for K–8 in Alhambra, CA. This part-time role involves 6 hours per day, typically 24 hours per week across multiple school sites, focusing on English Language Arts with a Phonics emphasis. Schedule ranges from 2–4 days per week depending on location.

Tutors support reading, writing, and mathematics using company curricula, and collaborate with school staff and families to track student progress. Phonics understanding is valued.

Qualifications

• Experience teaching or tutoring in K–8 settings.
• Strong phonics knowledge and reading instruction.
• Comfort using online platforms for records and communication.
• Flexible to part-time, multi-site tutoring schedules.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose learning skill deficits and apply prescribed instructional methods.
• Consult with school personnel to coordinate services for students.
• Communicate progress with parents on student performance.
• Deliver prescribed instructional delivery methods per company guidance.
• Attend trainings and implement designated instructional models in reading, math, and writing.
• Develop and maintain individualized lesson plans.
• Supervise students during sessions.
• Maintain student forms and files per regulations.
• Attend meetings with supervisors, teachers, and parents.
• Maintain inventory of educational materials.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Details

• Subject: English Language Arts (ELA)
• Grade Levels: Kindergarten–8th Grade (K–8)
• Schedule: Part-time, 2–4 days per week, depending on assigned location
• Hours: 6 hours per day

Available School Assignments

We are currently seeking educators to support students at the following school locations:

• Monterey Heights & Repetto: Monday–Thursday, 6 hours per day (2 days at each school; 24 hours per week).
• Northrup & Marguerite: 4 days per week, 6 hours per day (2 days at each school; 24 hours per week).
• Ramona & Garfield: 4 days per week, 6 hours per day (2 days at each school; 24 hours per week).
• Baldwin: Thursday and Friday only, 6 hours per day (12 hours per week).
• Ynes: Thursday and Friday only, 6 hours per day (12 hours per week).

We are building a talent pipeline for potential upcoming tutoring opportunities in the area. Additional details will be shared as opportunities become available.

Tutors will provide contracted instructional services with the necessary educational expertise in reading, mathematics, and writing for students. Tutors must have an understanding of Phonics.

Responsibilities

As a tutor with Catapult Learning, you will:

• Diagnose learning skill deficits and delivers prescribed instructional delivery methods as determined by the Company
• Consult with school personnel to coordinate efforts in providing services to students
• Communicate and conference with parents providing information on student progress
• Deliver prescribed instructional delivery methods as determined by the Company
• Attend training sessions and deliver designated instructional models and strategies in readiness, reading, mathematics, and/or writing skills to students through the utilization of Company-designed materials and educational strategies.
• Develop and maintain individualized skill-appropriate lesson plans.
• Ensure supervision of students, including escorting students safely to and from sessions.
• Establish and maintain student forms and files as required by the Company, local, state, and/or federal agencies.
• Attend and document meetings/training with Company Supervisors, classroom teachers, principals, and parents as required by the Company, local, state, and/or federal agencies.
• Maintain inventory of educational materials and supplies.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Previous teaching, tutoring, or classroom experience required.
