Job summary

Wieland Small Tube Products in Kilgore, TX is seeking a Turret Lathe Operator to run turret lathe equipment and produce quality parts in line with schedules and engineering specs. This on-site role requires attention to safety and quality.

You will perform setups, inspections, and routine maintenance, read engineering drawings, and work with the team to meet production goals. Starting pay is $19.00-$20.00 per hour, typical schedule 5AM–3PM, Monday–Thursday with Friday as needed.

Job description

Turret Lathe Operator

The Turret Lathe Operator is responsible for operating turret lathe equipment to produce quality parts in accordance with production schedules, engineering specifications, and safety standards. This role ensures efficient machine operation, performs routine quality inspections, maintains a clean and organized work area, and supports overall manufacturing and warehouse operations as needed to meet business objectives.

Location: Kilgore, TX (Fully on-site)

Starting Pay: $19.00-$20.00 per hour. Schedule: 5AM – 3PM, Monday – Thursday; Friday if needed. Pay Schedule: Bi‑Weekly.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain a safe, organized, and clean working environment
• Responsible for the set‑up, process, and maintenance of Turret Lathe
• Take rough castings from the foundry and process with machinery
• Operate machinery in a safe manner to ensure quality product
• Inspect material before and after operation for imperfections
• Load and unload product from the machinery for processing
• Assemble, rebuild, set up, maintain, and operate equipment such as cranes, forklifts, hand tools, etc.
• Inspect inventory and product orders for accuracy
• Report product discrepancies to management
• Perform all applicable SOPs, JSAs, and QAPs
• Actively communicate with teammates
• Operate forklifts to move material
• Other operations tasks as assigned

Physical Demands

• Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 pounds
• Remain in a standing and/or walking position for extended periods, up to 10 hours per shift
• Frequently bend, twist, stoop, reach, and perform other movements necessary to complete assigned duties
• Perform work in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment while meeting production schedules and deadlines
• Reliably distinguish colors when required to safely perform essential job duties
• Wear and properly use all required personal protective equipment (PPE) appropriate for assigned tasks

Qualifications

• Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines
• Strong attention to detail (critical skill)
• Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, and management
• Ability to work as part of a team and offer assistance to teammates when necessary
• Ability to work occasional Saturday hours as required by the position
• Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures
• Ability to read dimensioned engineering drawings
• Ability to read a tape measure and calipers
• High School Diploma or equivalent (preferred)
• Understanding of manufacturing industries (preferred)
• Experience in foundry/casting industry (preferred)
