Job summary

Acumed LLC in Addison, Texas is seeking a Turning Machinist to set up and operate various machine tools for producing precision parts. You will efficiently operate production machines under supervision, ensuring quality and performance while performing preventative maintenance.

The ideal candidate will have 1-2 years related experience and mastery of Level1 competencies on the Acumed Machinist Career Ladder. The role requires basic math skills and the ability to follow instructions in a team environment.

Qualifications

Job Scope

The Turning Machinist sets up and operates a variety of machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments.

Second Shift: Monday – Thursday, 3:00 PM – 1:30 AM.

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, efficiently operate production machine tools to maintain quality, cost and delivery.
• Operate and maintain various turning machines, including lathes and Swiss lathes.
• Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out‑of‑tolerance machining.
• Visually inspect surfaces for flaws and smoothness.
• Empty chip bins and sweep and clean work area and equipment.
• Use established practices to ensure quality during operation, including documentation and techniques.
• Monitor machine performance.
• Perform preventative maintenance as required.
• Perform general set‑ups to ensure maximum utilization.
• Work with Senior Machinist and Process Engineers to improve cell processes.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years related Acumed experience, or 3–5 years external experience.
• Successful completion of Tooling U and/or enrollment in machining classes, or equivalent.
• Mastery of Level1 competencies on the Acumed Machinist Career Ladder and Qualifications.
• Demonstrated set‑up competency on cell‑specific machine tools, with acceptable results.
• Ability to follow instructions and work in a team environment.
• Basic math skills.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Proficient reading, understanding and speaking of English to complete all documentation.
