Job summary

City of Greenville is seeking a Sports Park Grounds Supervisor to manage the daily maintenance and operations of the 110-acre Sports Park, including athletic fields, medians, and common areas.

You will lead turf care programs, supervise field technicians, and ensure safety, quality, and playability of all athletic fields. Implement best practices in turf management and coordinate game-day field prep.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Turfgrass Management, Horticulture, Agronomy, Plant Science, or related field.
• Experience: 3–5 years in athletic field maintenance and operations.
• Licenses/Certifications: Valid Texas Driver’s License; Texas Department of Agriculture Pesticide Applicator’s License or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Oversees day-to-day maintenance operations of athletic fields and surrounding park areas.
• Develops and implements turf care schedules (mowing, fertilizing, aerating, irrigation, field painting, and cultural practices).
• Supervises turf coordinator and field technicians.
• Ensures readiness and presentation of fields for practices, tournaments, and game days.
• Monitors inventory and orders tools, paint, fertilizers, and chemicals.
• Coordinates and performs field inspections to assess conditions and needs.
• Operates field maintenance equipment (mowers, sprayers, string trimmers, blowers).
• Coordinates and manages minor irrigation installation or modifications.
• Maintains records of maintenance schedules and supply usage.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
