Volt is seeking a Materials Testing Engineer in San Diego, CA to perform and coordinate mechanical testing of materials, ensuring data quality and alignment with turbomachinery standards. You will collaborate with labs and design teams to define testing requirements, maintain testing guidance, and develop pedigree controls for end-use classifications.

The role includes presenting results to senior engineers and stakeholders, advancing material characterization strategies, and owning testing

• Strong mechanical test experience.
• Strong working knowledge of key alloy systems and how processing affects properties.

Aufgaben

• Perform and coordinate mechanical testing of materials (thermophysical, tensile, fatigue, creep).
• Partner with test labs, materials engineers, and design engineers to define testing requirements.
• Own and maintain MPE Testing and Data Quality Guidance Notes aligned with OEM standards.
• Develop component-specific pedigree requirements for end-use classification and material selection controls.
• Generate comprehensive technical reports and engineering documentation of test results and conclusions.
• Develop and deliver technical and executive-level presentations on testing outcomes and business impact.
• Lead next generation material characterization strategies relating microstructure to properties.
• Collaborate with alloy owners to study microstructure and processing variations on properties.
• Schedule: Monday to Friday 8am - 5pm with potential flexibility.
