Job summary

• Demonstrated experience analyzing purchasing, supplier, business, or operational data and presenting actionable conclusions to management.
• Experience with data analysis, business operations, project management, sourcing, or supplier management.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal customers and suppliers to identify cost-saving opportunities, standardization opportunities, and process improvements for materials used in manufacturing.
• Understand internal and external customer requirements, including specifications, quantities, timing, pricing, and company policy, and use those requirements to support supplier negotiation and material sourcing.
• Facilitate the timely sourcing of materials and manage pre-production schedules for tooling and parts.
• Travel within North America to suppliers as needed to conduct audits and support plant Quality Assurance and Production Control groups as part of Purchasing supplier management activities.
• Support supplier management activities, including performance monitoring, issue follow-up, audit support, and supplier risk management.
• Review part drawings and process sheets to support cost-target development and sourcing evaluations.
• Accurately enter, maintain, and validate purchasing data in internal systems to support reliable tracking and reporting.
• Communicate analytical findings, sourcing status, cost opportunities, risks, and recommended actions to management and cross-functional teams.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Job Details: Job Location: Toyotetsu America Inc - Somerset, KY 42503, Position Type: Full Time, Job Shift: First, Job Category: Administration, Position Summary: Reporting to the Toyotetsu North America Purchasing Manager, the TTNA Purchasing Specialist is responsible for material sourcing and supplier management for Toyotetsu North America locations in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The role supports cost comparison, sourcing schedules, supplier audits, data integrity, and cross-functional decision-making. Success in this position requires advanced Excel capability, strong analytical judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to convert complex purchasing data into clear recommendations for management.

Primary Responsibilities

• Collaborate with internal customers and suppliers to identify cost-saving opportunities, standardization opportunities, and process improvements for materials used in manufacturing.
• Understand internal and external customer requirements, including specifications, quantities, timing, pricing, and company policy, and use those requirements to support supplier negotiation and material sourcing.

Advanced Excel and Analytical Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain advanced Excel-based tools for material-cost analysis, supplier comparisons, sourcing evaluations, forecasting, and purchasing performance tracking.
• Analyze pricing, usage, volumes, supplier performance, and market data to identify cost drivers, trends, variances, risks, and cost-saving opportunities.
• Perform detailed cost and variance analyses, reconcile data from multiple sources, investigate discrepancies, and communicate findings and recommended corrective actions.
• Create clear reports, dashboards, charts, and visual summaries that support data-driven decisions by Purchasing leadership.
• Validate the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of purchasing data across internal systems, source files, and management reports.
• Translate complex datasets and analytical results into concise conclusions, business recommendations, and executive-ready presentations.

Qualifications: Position Requirements:

Education & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field; or a high school diploma with five or more years of relevant purchasing, manufacturing, or analytical experience.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing purchasing, supplier, business, or operational data and presenting actionable conclusions to management.
• Experience with data analysis, business operations, project management, sourcing, or supplier management.

TOYOTETSU Technical and Analytical Skills

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including PivotTables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS, IF statements, data validation, conditional formatting, charts, and analysis of large datasets.
• Ability to build and maintain cost-comparison models, supplier quotation analyses, purchasing reports, forecasts, and management-level dashboards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to identify patterns, cost drivers, variances, risks, and improvement opportunities.
• Ability to reconcile and validate data from multiple sources while maintaining a high level of accuracy and documentation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint, including the ability to prepare clear presentations and written business communications.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Power Query, Power Pivot, macros, or other Excel automation tools.
• Experience extracting and analyzing data from ERP, purchasing, or manufacturing systems.
• Experience with cost modeling, supplier quotation analysis, manufacturing cost structures, or raw-material purchasing.
• Experience working across multiple facilities, countries, or cross-functional manufacturing teams.
