Job summary

Bitwise is seeking a Lead DevOps Engineer to guide a small team and secure mission systems on AWS, Kubernetes, and on-prem environments. You will automate, modernize, and improve reliability for critical workloads. Expect collaboration with 25+ software engineers and an emphasis on technical excellence.

The role requires 12+ years in DevOps or 8+ years with a technical BS, strong Linux and AWS skills, and hands‑on Kubernetes, CI/CD in GitLab, and observability expertise.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in DevOps or 8+ years with a technical BS
• Strong Linux admin with RHEL9 focus
• Hands-on Podman, Kubernetes to deploy apps
• Proficient in AWS services and IAM/VPC
• Expert in automation tools: Ansible, Terraform, Bash, Python

Responsibilities

• Lead and mentor two system admins and collaborate with 25+ software engineers
• Maintain systems across EC2, bare metal, and cloud deployments
• Oversee migrations to AWS cloud and ensure SSP compliance
• Design observability with monitoring, alerting, backup, DR
• Own CI/CD pipelines in GitLab and deployment automation
• Administer databases: Elasticsearch, MongoDB, Redis, DGraph
