Job summary

MANTECH is seeking an Installation Technician to support the deployment and installation of secure network infrastructure in Herndon, VA. This hands-on role involves configuring, testing, and documenting network drops, endpoints, and related hardware in a mission-driven environment.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structured cabling, cable termination, and interpreting diagrams. Travel to local sites is required; shifts run 6:00 AM–2:00 PM, with variation based on coverage

Qualifications

High School Diploma with 6+ years of experience or higher education with fewer years.
Proven experience installing and testing network drops, including labeling and certifying terminations.
Knowledge of structured cabling methodologies, industry standards, and common troubleshooting practices.
Hands-on experience deploying IT endpoints such as desktops, printers, VOIP phones, and network switches.
Ability to diagnose and resolve hardware, network, and telecom system issues.
Able to interpret and execute work from network diagrams, floor plans, and installation packages.

Responsibilities

Install and terminate CAT5/CAT6 and fiber cabling, including racks and patch panels.
Perform cable pulls, terminations, testing, documentation, and cable management.
Install and configure workstations, rebuild desktops, relocate IT equipment, and deploy network drops.
Interpret design packages, wiring schematics, port maps, and network diagrams to guide installation work.
Troubleshoot and resolve workstation connectivity and equipment issues.
Travel locally between customer sites and support temporary assignments.
Work shifts from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM as part of a cover team.
