Job summary

Zachary Piper Solutions in Newington, VA is seeking a Network Engineer to design, secure, and maintain resilient network architectures for government clients, enabling uninterrupted communication and mission-critical system availability.

You will lead routing and switching deployments (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP), manage Cisco Catalyst/Nexus/ACI, implement Zero Trust security, monitor health with SolarWinds and Wireshark, and support cloud/network integration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• 10+ years of related network engineering experience.
• Active TS/SCI Security Clearance.
• Expertise in routing and switching protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP).
• Experience with LAN/WAN architecture, design, and deployment.
• Proficiency with network monitoring and performance tools (SolarWinds, NetFlow, Wireshark).
• Hands-on experience with firewalls, VPNs, QoS, and load balancers.
• Strong background working with Cisco platforms including Catalyst, Nexus, and ACI.

Responsibilities

• Design, secure, and maintain resilient network architectures for government customers in dynamic, high-stakes environments.
• Architect and optimize LAN, WAN, data center, and cloud networking solutions for scalability and performance.
• Lead deployment and lifecycle management of routing and switching technologies (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP) and Cisco platforms.
• Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, and ACI environments per standards and best practices.
• Develop and implement network security solutions including firewalls, VPNs, segmentation, access controls, and Zero Trust architectures.
• Monitor network health, performance, capacity, and availability using enterprise tools; identify and resolve issues proactively.
