Job summary

Westport One is seeking an experienced Trust Counsel to serve as the legal and technical expert supporting HNW and UHNW individuals, families, family offices, and their trusted advisors.

In this highly visible role, you'll partner with relationship managers, fiduciary professionals, and outside counsel to provide sophisticated estate planning, wealth transfer strategies, trust administration guidance, and advanced tax planning while helping drive new business and strengthen existing client

Qualifications

• JD or LLM required with active bar admission.
• 10+ years of trust and estate planning experience.
• Strong reputation for technical excellence and client service.

Responsibilities

• Provide sophisticated estate planning and wealth transfer strategies.
• Offer trust administration guidance and advanced tax planning.
• Collaborate with relationship managers and outside counsel on complex fiduciary matters.
• Address decantings, discretionary distributions, terminations, accountings, and evolving estate/gift tax legislation.

In this highly visible role, you'll partner with relationship managers, fiduciary professionals, and outside counsel to provide sophisticated estate planning, wealth transfer strategies, trust administration guidance, and advanced tax planning while helping drive new business and strengthen existing client relationships. The ideal candidate brings a JD or LLM, active bar admission, at least 10 years of trust and estate planning experience, and a reputation for technical excellence, sound judgment, and exceptional client service. Experience with New York and New Jersey trust law, cross-border planning, and an established network of professional advisors will position you for success.
