WithumSmith+Brown, PC seeks a Trust and Estate Tax Manager to lead all aspects of tax engagements, supervise staff, and build enduring client relationships.

You will work with CPAs and industry leaders to review complex tax returns, identify planning opportunities, and mentor junior team members in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required.
  • CPA license, JD or Masters of Science in Taxation is required.
  • At least 5 years of prior experience in a public accounting tax department with leadership of multiple engagements and supervision of staff.
  • Excellent analytical and technical tax skills.
  • Exceptional client service and communication skills with ability to develop and maintain client relationships.
  • Ability to manage multiple engagements and competing projects in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Strong leadership, training, and mentoring skills with excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.

Job Description

Withum's Tax Services Group is made up of a brilliant team of tax specialists that work to ensure tax reporting obligations are met in an accurate and timely manner and minimize or defer the payment of taxes. Their comprehensive understanding of international, US federal, state, and local regulations, alongside our affiliation with HLB International, allows them to develop economical tax strategies anywhere. Services include Business, Individual, State & Local tax, R&D Tax Credit, and International and Private Client services.

As a Trust and Estate Tax Manager based at any of our office locations, you will work alongside an integrated team of seasoned CPAs and industry leaders. In this position, you will take a lead role on all aspects of tax engagements, supervise and mentor staff, and build and maintain relationships with clients.

How You'll Spend Your Time
  • Reviewing individual, trust, partnership, and corporate tax returns prepared by tax staff and/or seniors for accuracy.
  • Researching and drafting memorandum involving complex tax matters.
  • Identifying and implementing tax planning opportunities.
  • Handling and resolving tax controversies.
  • Overseeing complete tax research projects for a variety of clients and diverse industries.
  • Managing multiple engagements concurrently with various teams to efficiently meet client deadlines.
  • Conducting constructive discussions with team members on their evaluations and providing counsel accordingly.
  • Serving in professional development programs as an instructor or discussion leader.

The compensation for this position will vary by location. If you reside in California, Maryland, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Washington State, or Rhode Island, please see below. In addition to the base compensation, Withum offers a competitive benefits package and bonus program (for eligible roles) based on individual and firm performance. Final offer amounts are based on multiple factors such as the specific role, hiring location, and the individual's skills, experience, and qualifications. California ranges: $110,000 - $210,000 annually
Illinois ranges: $125,000 - $160,000 annually
Maryland ranges: $120,000 - $150,000 annually
Massachusetts ranges: $125,000 - $185,000 annually
New Jersey ranges: $105,000 - $190,000 annually
New York City ranges: $110,000 - $180,000 annually
New York State ranges: $110,000 - $180,000 annually
Rhode Island ranges: $110,000 - $160,000 annually
Washington State ranges: $135,000 - $175,000 annually
