Job summary

Arcwood Environmental is hiring for a Truck Mover/Unloader in Indianapolis. You will load and unload trucks carrying bulk liquids and solids, ensuring safety and regulatory compliance, and perform routine container wash-outs to RCRA empty standards.

Qualifications include a high-school diploma or equivalent, with CDL preferred. Forklift operation and basic chemistry awareness are a plus, along with strong record-keeping and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Load and unload trucks carrying bulk liquid and solid hazardous materials.
  • Maintain safety practices and comply with policies.

  • Move hoses, connect tankers, and perform cleanup as needed.
  • Take samples of incoming and outgoing loads.
  • Maintain records and logs of activities.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Truck Mover/Unloader As a Truck Mover/Unloader you will be responsible for loading and unloading trucks containing bulk liquid and solid hazardous materials for processing or transportation.

  • Prioritizes health and safety by adhering to policies, processes, and consistently maintaining safe practices
  • Loads and unloads trucks containing bulk liquid and solid hazardous materials for processing or transportation
  • Completes the wash out of tankers and other bulk transportation containers to the standard of RCRA empty
  • Moves large hoses to connect tankers for unloading and to connect water hoses/power washers for clean up
  • Samples incoming and outgoing loads as needed
  • Utilizes knowledge of plant tanks, piping and pump systems and their capabilities; utilizes basic chemistry knowledge to understand with hazards are created by the mixture of incompatible materials
  • Acquires knowledge of the Arcwood product codes and Department of Transportation (DOT) hazard classes
  • Maintains records, verifies paperwork, and logs information
  • Maintains general plant and specific work area cleanliness and safety
  • Monitors plant tank farm sumps and keeps them dry at all times
  • Maintains the ability to manage basic spills and assists in the clean-up of larger issues
  • Moves tankers and trailers with fifth wheel and tractor setup, as well as other large trucks on to the unloading stations
  • Performs inspections of yard dogs as needed
  • Utilizes appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as needed including boots, gloves, suits, eye/ear protection and a respirator
  • Takes on additional duties as assigned to support the team and organization

Education

High-school diploma or equivalent (required)

Experience
  • Previous truck driving experience, including a CDL (preferred)
  • Previous experience operating a forklift (preferred)
