Job summary

Continental is seeking a tire builder in Mount Vernon, NY to assemble truck tires and operate tire-building machinery. You will load materials, verify stock and specifications, and perform change-overs as needed to complete tire builds.

This role requires physical stamina, including lifting up to 50 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally, and strict adherence to safety protocols in a non-climate controlled plant with noise and forklift traffic.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• 0–2 years of manufacturing experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs frequently and up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Shift may include evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Build truck tires (semi) and operate tire-building machinery.
• Load materials into tire machine, conveyor, and/or buggy; verify stock and specifications.
• Perform change-overs as needed, including changing tread and other components.
• Adhere to safety procedures; wear hearing protection and steel-toe shoes.

Job Description

• This position is responsible for building truck (semi) tires.
• Builder will cycle machine to splice and stitch tire components and remove carcass from drum.
• Duties include loading materials into tire machine, conveyor, and/or buggy and verifying stock and specifications.
• Throughout the shift, builders may be required to perform a change-over. A change-over may involve changing the tread to changing most or all of the building components
• Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. and occasional lifting and carrying up to 100 lbs.
• Frequent reaching and twisting and occasional climbing of stairs/ladders, squatting, and bending.

ENVIRONMENT

• Safety is our highest priority and safety procedures/ guidelines must be always adhered to. This includes safety wear such as hearing protection and steel toe shoes.
• New Hires will likely be placed on a shift that includesevenings and weekends.
• The job is within a non-climate controlled environment where you will be exposed to temperature swings (hot/cold), forklift and pedestrian traffic, and noise.
• The role involves various physical tasks, including lifting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and operating machinery, with comprehensive training provided.

HOURLY PAY

• The hourly starting rate for this position is $28.99. The hourly rate will increase to $30.58per hour after training is complete (6-12 weeks of training). This position is also eligible for a quarterly incentive program.
• This role will be eligible for shift differential which is added onto your hourly rate. The additional shift differential is $0.20 per hour for evening shifts, $0.40 per hour for overnight shifts, and $1.00 per hour for weekendshifts.
• Pay rate is based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.
