Job summary

The Salvation Army in Florida seeks a part-time donation pickup and warehouse associate. You will participate in scheduled truck pickups, loading and unloading donations, and helping maintain order in the warehouse.

No formal education or experience is required, and at least six months of lifting/hauling heavy items is preferred. This role requires physical stamina and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Rides in Salvation Army Truck on scheduled route to pick up donation items.
• Assist in loading items into the truck and securing them for transport.
• Inspect donations for suitability and assist in pricing/stocking as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized warehouse and assist with basic vehicle upkeep.

Schedule/Hours: M– F 10:00a.m.– 3.30p.m. (29 hours per week)This position is responsible for:Assists in picking-up donations by riding in a Salvation Army truck and lifting, carrying, and/or hauling donations into the truck and unloading the same at the warehouse; assists in navigating for the Truck Driver; ensures the accountability, security, and safety of the donations when in route; assists in maintaining the vehicle in proper working order and in compliance with established standards.Receives, sorts, prices and prepares donated items for display in the store; determines suitability and pricing of items based on established standards; assists in maintaining the orderliness and cleanliness of the warehouse area.Key Responsibilities:Rides in Salvation Army Truck on scheduled route in order to pick-up donation items; assist in navigating driver to destination by reading amp or written directionsInspect donations items briefly to ensure they can be used according to established policies and procedures; explain policy to customers regarding type of items that cam be acceptedLifts carries and or hauls donations into truck; packs items in truck in a manner that maximizes use of space, protects items from damage and ensure safety.Hang clothing on hanger and place same clothes on rackPack items with specially coded tickets and/or prices in accordance with established proceduresMaintain warehouse area in a neat and order manner; clean floors, tables, and work areas.Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:Ability to perform strenuous, heavy work involving the lifting and carrying of heavy objectsAbility to read and follow a map and/or handwritten instructionsAbilit to determine the condition of the items in accordance to established standardsAbility to speak English languageAbility to meet attendance requirements.Moderate mobility: Duties are usually performed by combinations of sitting, standing, and walking on a frequent change basis.
