Goodwill in San Diego, CA is seeking a dedicated Truck Driver to operate 20-26 foot bobtail trucks. You will deliver or pick up merchandise and donations from donation centers, stores, and private residences while safeguarding donations and company property.

Ideal candidates have at least 6 months of industrial driving experience, a valid California Class C license, and basic computer skills. This role involves daily pre-trip and post-trip checks and stable day-to-day routes.

Qualifications

  • High School Degree or GED preferred.
  • 6 months industrial vehicle driving experience required, one year preferred.
  • Basic computer skills and GPS tracking system familiarity preferred.
  • California Driver’s License, Class C with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguards all donations and company property from damage and theft.
  • Reads maps, operates navigational tools (Teletrac/GPS) and follows directions.
  • Maintains DVIRs and daily Trip Sheets according to laws and procedures.
  • Provides basic direction and redirection if assigned a Truck Helper.
  • Safely operates 20-26 foot bobtail trucks and completes pre/post-trip inspections.
  • Safely loads and unloads truck, using hand truck or pallet jack.
  • Maintains communication with Dispatch and responds to Teletrac messages.
  • Pads, stacks, and secures items to prevent damage during transit.
  • Abides by all safety procedures and reports safety concerns.
  • Performs other duties as directed.

HOURLY RATE: $22.51-$25.00

POSITION SUMMARY:Operates a truck primarily to deliveror pick up merchandise/donations from donation centers, Goodwill stores/facilities, businesses or private residences.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions Statement:

  • Safeguards all donations and company property from damage and theft. Treats all donations and company property with respect and care. Assists donors when present and necessary.
  • Reads maps, operates navigational tools (Teletrac/GPS) and follows written and verbal geographic directions.
  • Maintains records such as Daily Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIRS) and daily Trip Sheets according to all State and Federal laws and company procedures.
  • Provides basic direction and redirection if assigned a Truck Helper.
  • Safely operates/drives 20-26 foot bobtail trucks, completing all daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections on assigned vehicles, immediately reporting any supply needs, equipment needs/issues and any mechanical problems encountered with vehicles to Dispatch or a Transportation Management member.
  • Safely and efficiently loads and unloads truck, vehicles, containers and trailers. Loads and unloads vehicles by hand or with the use of a hand truck, lift gate and/or pallet jack.
  • Maintains communication with Dispatch, calling at each stop and at scheduled times throughout the day. Appropriately uses and responds to Teletrac messages.
  • Safely and efficiently pads, stacks, and secures items in position on the truck to prevent damage during transit.
  • Abides by all safety procedures and policies at all times. Reports any safety concerns immediately to on-site management or immediate supervisor.
  • Performs other miscellaneous duties as directed or assigned.
Qualifications

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Education: High School Degree or GED preferred.

Experience: 6 months industrial vehicle driving experience required, one year preferred.

Computer Skills: Basic computer skills and the ability to operate GPS tracking system preferred.

Certificates & Licenses:Valid California Driver’s License, (Class C) with driving record acceptable to Goodwill’s insurance company’s standards.
