Truck Driver - Hiker/Vehicle Transporter/CDL - Part Time

Position Summary: Penske Truck Leasing in Medford is seeking highly motivated and qualified applicants for the position of Hiker (Vehicle Transporter/Truck Driver). This role involves vehicle delivery and returning vehicles to Penske locations and customers. It primarily involves moving box trucks up to 26’ and, for CDL Class A drivers, tractors and trailers. The position may also include assisting the service department with delivering parts and equipment.

This is a casual/on-call, part-time position suitable for licensed CDL Class B or A drivers seeking supplemental income, with hours ranging from 0 to 25 per week based on business needs.

Major Responsibilities:

• Follow safety procedures while driving trucks to designated locations.
• Inspect vehicles to ensure proper mechanical and safety condition; report issues.
• Obtain receipts or signatures for deliveries and collect payments if required.
• Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damages.
• Perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 2 years of driving experience.
• Clean DMV motor vehicle record for 2 years.
• CDL Class B license required; Class A preferred.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions.
• Independent work skills, customer service, organizational skills, positive attitude.
• Regular attendance is essential.
• Regulated by DOT; must maintain driver qualification file, including MVR check, DOT physical, and safety records. CDL holders require DOT drug screening and FMCSA Clearinghouse review.
• Willingness to travel, work scheduled hours, pass background and drug screenings.

Physical Requirements:

• Must see and hear adequately; specific vision abilities required.
• Frequent movement, standing, walking, sitting; ability to lift up to 50 lbs regularly and 100 lbs occasionally.
• Legally able to operate a vehicle and safely enter/exit the vehicle and cargo area.

Salary:

$23.00/hr plus shift differential when applicable.
