Job summary

Michiana, Inc. is hiring a Full Time Truck Driver at the Gary Salvage Outlet (Gary, IN 46408) to pick up and deliver donated goods using a Goodwill straight truck (25,995 GVW).

You will load/unload with assistance, perform daily safety checks, document routes, and interact with customers and store personnel while following all safety policies. Qualifications include a valid CDL/DOT certification, the ability to pass background checks and a drug screen, and flexible availability with up to 50%

Qualifications

• High school education required.
• CDL license and DOT certification required.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen.
• Must have valid driver's license and proof of insurance.

Responsibilities

• Operate company truck to complete assigned routes for pickup and delivery of donated goods from collection boxes, stores, and homes.
• Load and unload materials safely and efficiently with assistance of a Truck Helper or client, ensuring items are handled to prevent damage and maximize truck space.
• Provide direction to the Truck Helper or client on the route, reporting any violations of company policy or safety procedures.
• Perform daily vehicle safety inspections and report any equipment or truck malfunctions to the Transportation Supervisor immediately.
• Maintain cleanliness of the truck cab and cargo area, and clean collection boxes as needed.
• Accurately document and submit daily records of items transported.
• Interact professionally with customers and store personnel, providing information about company services as needed.
• Evaluate and report on client performance when applicable.
• Follow safety protocols, including use of hand trucks or pallet jacks to move heavy items when necessary.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

QualificationsRequired Education and Skills:

• Must possess a valid Chauffeur’s License or Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) and be D.O.T. certified.
• Must be able to safely operate a Goodwill straight truck (25,995 GVW).
• Must consistently use required personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard-soled shoes, back belt, and gloves.
• Ability to pass a criminal background check and drug screen.
• Must have reliable transportation, a current driver's license, and provide proof of insurance to travel to different job sites.

Qualifications:

• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Flexible availability.
• Able to frequently bend, twist, reach above shoulder level, push and pull, crouch or stoop, kneel, repetitively use feet, and use head and neck in a twisting or static motion and to look up and/or down, and lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
• Able to safely use equipment and machinery applicable to this role.
