Job summary

AMI Metals, Inc. is seeking a professional truck driver to transport materials to appointed destinations. The role requires a valid Class A CDL, flatbed experience, and a clean driving record.

You will read maps, operate a forklift for loading, and maintain vehicle logs while adhering to safety standards. Familiarity with DOT regulations, strong attention to detail, and flexibility for irregular hours are essential.

Qualifications

  • Requires valid Class A CDL and stable driving record.
  • Minimum 1 year flatbed experience preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret maps and directions; basic English literacy and math.

Responsibilities

  • Load/unload cargo using forklift or manual methods.
  • Read maps and directions to delivery destinations.
  • Drive truck to destinations and maintain accurate logs.
  • Maintain truck and inspect equipment before trips.
  • Follow safety policies and traffic regulations; communicate issues to supervisor.

Job Function

POSITION SUMMARY:

Drives truck to transport material to and from specified destinations, by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Loads or unloads truck using a forklift.
  • Reads and understands map book and/or written directions to locate delivery destination.
  • Drives truck to destination.
  • Maintains truck log, according to state and federal regulations.
  • Maintains safe driving record and obeys all state, local and federal driving laws.
  • Displays driving courtesy to all other drivers.
  • Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil and water.
  • Performs emergency roadside repairs if able.
  • Observes all company safety policies and procedures pertaining to this position.
  • Position blocks and ties rope around items to secure cargo during transit.
  • Checks all shipping paperwork before delivery to assure proper loads are being loaded and delivered.
  • Reports any operational or safety concerns regarding company trucks to supervisor.
  • Attends safety and TQM meetings as required.
  • Ability to work irregular hours.
Required Skills

QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Class A CDL
  • Minimum 1 year flatbed experience
  • No DUI/DWI in the last 10 years
  • No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or six to twelve months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance
  • instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

  • Appropriate state license to operate truck. Compensation Range

The anticipated compensation for this position is USD $25.67/Yr. - USD $25.67/Yr. depending on experience, qualifications, and location.
