Job summary

Melhorn Sales Service & Trucking Company is seeking a CDL Class A truck driver in Ohio. The role offers a mix of local, one overnight, and regional opportunities while transporting live poultry under strict bio-security protocols.

Responsibilities include pre-trip/post-trip inspections, log maintenance, and safe operation of a Class A truck. Applicants should have a clean driving record and be comfortable using smart devices on the road.

Qualifications

• Clean driving record.
• Ability to drive outside the United States (preferred).
• 1–2 years’ experience in trucking (preferred).
• Background in Agriculture (preferred).
• Ability to operate smart devices (phone/tablet).

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class A vehicle safely.
• Back into loading/unloading locations as needed.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
• Document repairs needed for the truck.
• Know Hours of Service and FMCSA regulations.
• Record hours of service on ELD.
• Collaborate with foreman and team to complete daily tasks.
• Assist with loading/unloading when required.

Job Responsibilities

• Capable of safely operating and driving a class A vehicle
• Capable of maneuvering a class A truck around tight loading and unloading locations (be able to back a truck up)
• Ability to perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Ability to write up any and all necessary repairs to your truck that need to be fixed
• Have a working knowledge of the Hours of Service and FMCAS regulations for commercial drivers
• Ability to record hours of service on an ELD or willingness to learn to use an ELD
• Ability to work with others and jump in when needed and where needed (our line of work requires that the job be done that day and as smooth as possible)
• Capable of helping the job foreman and assisting them however they need
• Capable of performing job tasks like loading and unloading your truck that may be very physical at times

Experience

• A back ground in Agriculture (preferred)
• Clean Driving record
• Ability to use or be trained on smart technology (smart phone and iPads)
