United Natural Foods, Inc. (UNFI) is seeking a Class A Delivery Driver to deliver palletized grocery products and perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.

The driver will review paperwork, verify order accuracy, and ensure safe loading/unloading at corporate and independent stores within the Hudson Valley and DC area. The role requires a valid Class A CDL with medical card, ability to pass exams, and knowledge of DOT regulations.

Qualifications

• Ability to pass written exam and road test.

• Good judgment is required for autonomous work situations.

Responsibilities

• Comply with FMCSA regulations.
• Delivering and unloading products using tractor trailer, ramps, lift gates, pallet jacks, load bars, and related equipment.
• Operate vehicle safely within UNFI guidelines to minimize accidents and violations.
• Report any accident immediately to the Transportation Manager/Department.
• Keep vehicles well maintained, safe, and secure; report defects promptly using DCVR form.
• Pickup supplies and back hauls from vendors while completing related paperwork.
• Address and resolve customer problems as appropriate.
• Ensure customer orders arrive in quality condition and match the initial order.
• Communicate professionally with customers and vendors.

Job Overview:

As a Delivery Driver, your primarily responsible for delivering and unloading grocery products. Drivers also performpre and post trip inspection of their vehicle utilizing knowledge of safe and effective loading and handling procedures.

What does it mean to be part of the Class A Delivery Driver team?

As a Class A Delivery Driver for UNFI, you will support the Hudson Valley, DC by delivering palletized products to corporate and independent retail stores. The essential functions and basic duties of the CDL Driver are to perform pre- and post-trip inspection of their vehicle utilizing knowledge of safe and effective loading and handling procedures. As a Delivery Driver, you are also responsible for delivering and unloading products, reviewing paperwork for completeness and accuracy, checking orders for the correct number of boxes, correcting addresses and support documentation, completing timecards, entering trip data into on-board computer, and completing paper logs if necessary.

Job Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

• Complying with FMCSA regulations
• Delivering and unloading products utilizing equipment, including tractor trailer, ramps, lift gates, pallet jacks, load bars, and other devices which assist delivery
• Operating vehicle safely within UNFI guidelines minimizing accidents, traffic violations, and complaints from the public
• Reporting any accident immediately to the Transportation Manager/Department
• Keeping vehicles well maintained, safe, and secure; reporting any defects promptly using DCVR form
• Picking up supplies and back hauls from vendors while completing related paperwork
• Addressing and resolving customer problems as appropriate
• Ensuring customer orders arrive in quality condition and correspond precisely to the initial order
• Communicating professionally with customers and vendor

Job Requirements:

• Valid medical card as prescribed by the Federal Motor Carrier Administration and a valid state specific Commercial Driver’s License (Class A)
• Ability to pass a written exam and road test
• Basic knowledge of Department of Transportation (DOT) law and mandates and understanding of UNFI’s safety standards
• Good judgment is required for this position as there may be times when direct supervision may not be immediately available
