Paycom - ATS is seeking an Experienced Driver located in Hickory, NC for full-time work on the second shift. A High School Diploma or GED is required, with more than 50% travel expected.

Qualifications

  • High degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of a tractor-trailer.
  • Experience in the corrugated industry (preferred).
  • Licensed driver in the metropolitan area (preferred).
  • Forklift operator experience (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Operate a tractor-trailer or bobtail to deliver sheets or finished products to customers.
  • Load/unload or assist in loading/unloading finished product.
  • Inspect load in trailer to ensure proper loading and accuracy.
  • Verify count while unloading.
  • Transport load by required route while observing traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Obtain shipping bill of lading and necessary signatures; return paperwork to shipping office.
  • Complete daily reports and timecards accurately and timely.
  • Perform daily vehicle checks (oil, water, fuel, tires) and clean vehicle.
  • Report maintenance needs to supervision; assist in maintenance as needed.
  • Adhere to company policies and safety standards.

Job Details: Level: Experienced, Job Location: NC- Hickory (2) - Hickory, NC 28601, Position Type: Full Time, Education Level: High School Diploma or Equivalent, Travel Percentage: More than 50%, Job Shift: Second Shift, Job Category: Transportation, Responsible for safely and efficiently operate a tractor-trailer or bobtail truck to deliver sheets or finished products to customers and in accordance with state laws.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Frequent sitting for extended periods of time.
  • Load/unload or assist in loading/unloading finished product in or from trailer.
  • Inspect load in trailer to ensure it is properly loaded and it is the correct load before leaving.
  • Verify count while truck is being unloaded, as allowed by customers.
  • Transport load by required route to proper destination while observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Obtain shipping bill of lading and necessary signatures and return completed paperwork to shipping office.
  • Complete necessary reports in an accurate and timely manner, including but not limited to: Production Data, Truck Service Data, Safety Data, Quality Data.
  • Complete daily timecard, driver logs, and all other work reports accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Perform daily services such as - checking the oil level, water level, fuel, air in tires, and clean vehicle as needed.
  • Report any maintenance items to supervision immediately. Be proactive in the maintenance of the truck and trailers.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.
LANGUAGE SKILLS

Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy. Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume and rate. Able to apply concepts of high school math.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form. Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:

  • Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • Product layouts and production specifications
  • Product quality specifications
  • Quality standards
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

Have a valid state Commercial Drivers’ License and meet Department of Transportation physical and medical requirements.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

On the road the employee may encounter traffic and other hazardous driving conditions.

Qualifications: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or GED.

Pass substance abuse screening according to company policy.

High degree of attention and considerable dexterity in the control of a tractor-trailer and in the prevention of damage to materials and equipment.
