Job summary

VVM/VVT is seeking a full-time truck driver to deliver feed products to customers. You will maintain daily logs, perform vehicle inspections, and ensure safe, efficient routes while upholding top customer service.

  • Valid Class A driver’s license in good standing required.
  • At least two years of commercial driving experience required.
  • Ability to drive a truck with capacity of more than three tons to transport and deliver product.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver feed products to customers.
  • Complete daily truck log and mileage reports per regulations.
  • Inspect and maintain vehicle and report issues promptly.
  • Maintain cleanliness of truck and product daily.
  • Coordinate routes to maximize efficiency and conserve fuel.
  • Obtain customer signatures and collect payments for deliveries.
  • Perform daily truck and trailer inspections and report to DOT Supervisor.
  • Assist loading and unloading as needed.
  • Adhere to DOT, federal and in-house regulations, policies, and rules.

Job Classification: Exempt, Full-timeReporting Relationship: Mill Manager or Assistant Mill ManagerPrimary Accountability:The Truck Driver is responsible for providing the customers of VVM/VVT with quality feed with personable and dependable service. The Truck Driver is responsible for using safe driving habits, while making deliveries and serving the customers of VVM/VVT.Major Duties:Completes a daily truck log and submits reports of mileage according to state and federal regulations.Delivers feed products to customers.Inspects and maintains the proper maintenance of all equipment and reports equipment or mechanical failures immediately.Maintains record of materials and products transported.Ensures the cleanliness of the truck and product daily.Maintains radio or telephone contact with VVM/VVT to receive instructions or be dispatched to new location.Manages routes and routines so they proceed in the most efficient way possible.Finds ways to conserve resources, including fuel, to benefit the business.Maintains proper inventories at the customer level to eliminate shortages or returns.Serves as a VVM/VVT advocate and ambassador in every interaction with clients and the public through exceptional customer service.Conducts a mandatory daily truck and trailer inspection of the vehicle and turns report into DOT Supervisor.Fuels truck and trailer upon return from a delivery.Operates equipment to load, unload, or disperse product.Obtains customer signature or collects payment for goods delivered and delivery charges.Assists in loading and unloading truck manually.Complies with all DOT, Federal regulations and in-house regulations, policies and rules.Additional Duties:Additional duties and responsibilities may be added to this job description at any time. The noise level may require ear protection.Frequently exposed to dust, extreme cold and extreme heat.Occasionally enter confined spaces.Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, and vibration.Frequent travel required.
