Job summary

United States Cold Storage is seeking a part‑time driver in McDonough, GA. You will operate a Class A tractor, transport goods while following all safety and regulatory guidelines, and maintain logs and inspections.

The role requires 1+ year experience with Class A vehicles; reefer experience is preferred. A clean MVR is mandatory, with ability to work varied shifts and lift up to 70 lbs when needed.

Job Details
  • Safely operate a tractor to transport goods from or to customer locations following all local, state, and federal guidelines.
  • Check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order.
  • Follow appropriate safety and food safety procedures for transporting goods.
  • Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure.
  • Maintain logs of working hours or of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles.
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required.
  • Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy.
  • Check conditions of trailers after contents have been unloaded to ensure that there has been no damage.
  • Perform basic vehicle maintenance tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid or performing minor repairs.
  • Operate equipment, such as truck cab computers, CB radios, phones, and GPS equipment to exchange necessary information with bases, supervisors, or other drivers.
  • Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions using computer equipment, GPS, or other navigation devices.
  • Load or unload trucks or help others with loading or unloading, using special loading‑related equipment or other equipment as necessary.
  • Follow special cargo‑related procedures, such as checking refrigeration systems for frozen foods.
  • Cultivate well‑trained workforce, including support of performance‑management and career development.
  • Maintain yard security in accordance with company requirements.
  • Work with the transport team to manage yard‑based transport requirements and ensure load out rates are in accordance with company requirements.
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for, and ensure compliance with, all Safety, Health, Environment, Community, and Sustainability (SHECS) policies, procedures, and initiatives within a team.
  • Support and ensure team compliance with all Company policies, procedures, and initiatives.

What We Are Looking For
Education (Required)
  • High School Degree / GED
Experience (Required)
  • 1‑year minimum experience operating Class A vehicles; reefer experience preferred.

  • Work longer hours as needed to satisfy customer and USCS daily and seasonal requirements.
  • Drive a registered motor vehicle to satisfy daily requirements.
  • Have acceptable and/or correctable vision.
