Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC is seeking a Trimmer/Climber in North Carolina. This full-time, non-exempt role involves trimming and removing trees, operating tools, and maintaining safe work sites. You will load and unload trucks, assist in training new employees, and follow safety protocols on busy job sites.

The ideal candidate is physically capable of climbing, lifting up to 50 lbs, and working at heights. Entry-level applicants are welcome with willingness to learn; pre-employment screening

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Able to work with hands above head for extended periods.
• Able to walk, climb, and work from ladders at various heights.
• No fear of heights and good hand-eye coordination.
• Basic education preferred; entry-level position available.

Responsibilities

• Trims and removes trees, branches, trunk sections.
• Operate and service required tools/equipment.
• Cleans and splits large debris into pieces.
• Sprays areas to prevent regrowth.
• Loads/unloads trucks and feeds debris into woodchipper.
• Repairs minor damage to lawns, fences, walkways.
• Maintains tools, trucks, and work areas in order.
• Relays signals, directs traffic, and operates trucks as assigned.
• Safeguards employees and public from hazards.
• Assists in training new employees.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:

• Trims and/or removes trees, branches, trunk sections.
• Operate and service all required tools/equipment.
• Cuts and splits large debris into manageable pieces.
• Sprays areas with equipment to prevent further growth.
• Loads/unloads trucks.
• Feeds brush & debris into a woodchipper.
• Repairs minor job-related damage to lawns, fences, and walkways.
• Services gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools and other equipment.
• Relays hand signals, directs traffic, drives, and operates trucks and equipment, as assigned.
• Keeps trucks and work areas clear and orderly.
• Safeguards employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Cooperates with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
• Sets up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and the public.
• Trained to perform tree and bucket rescue.
• Assists in training new employees.
• Assumes responsibility for the inspection and proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment.
• Requests repair or replacement, when necessary.
• Maintains good housekeeping on trucks and at work locations.
• Performs other related work, as assigned by superiors.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to walk, climb, and work from ladders, or at various heights, on uneven and slippery surfaces, performing mentally/physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material.
• No fear of heights.
• Must have good hand-to-eye coordination.

Education & Experience:

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Entry-level position, no experience required.
• Previous experience is a plus.

Pre-Screen:

• Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications:

• A Driver's License is Preferred, but not required.
