Job summary

Asplundh Tree Expert, LLC is seeking a motivated Trimmer/Climber in Ohio to trim and remove trees and branches, operate and maintain equipment, and ensure safety on site. You will load and unload gear, assist in training new hires, and help protect the public while performing essential tree-care tasks.

The role requires physical fitness, the ability to work at height, and reliable teamwork. A high school diploma is preferred, with pre-employment checks and a driver’s license being optional.

Qualifications

• Must be able to work with hands above head for extended periods.
• Must be able to walk, climb, and work from ladders or at various heights.
• No fear of heights.
• Good hand-to-eye coordination.

Responsibilities

• Trim and/or remove trees, branches, trunk sections.
• Operate and service all required tools/equipment.
• Cut and split large debris into manageable pieces.
• Spray areas with equipment to prevent further growth.
• Load/unload trucks.
• Feed brush and debris into a woodchipper.
• Repair minor job-related damage to lawns, fences, and walkways.
• Service gasoline, air, and hand-powered tools and other equipment.
• Relays hand signals, directs traffic, drives, and operates trucks and equipment.
• Keep trucks and work areas clear and orderly.
• Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
• Cooperate with customers, police, and fire departments when blocking streets or driveways.
• Set up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and the public.
• Trained to perform tree and bucket rescue.
• Assist in training new employees.
• Inspect and ensure proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility for the inspection and proper working conditions of tools, trucks, and other work equipment.
• Requests repair or replacement, when necessary.
• Maintains good housekeeping on trucks and at work locations.
• Performs other related work, as assigned by superiors.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must be able to work with hands above head for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to walk, climb, and work from ladders, or at various heights, on uneven and slippery surfaces, performing mentally/physically demanding work under unfavorable weather conditions while handling equipment or material.
• No fear of heights.
• Must have good hand-to-eye coordination.

Education & Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Entry‑level position, no experience required.
• Previous experience is a plus.

Pre‑Screen

• Upon offer, employees may be required to complete and pass a pre‑employment drug screen, background, and/or MVR check.

License & Certifications

• A Driver's License is Preferred, but not required.
