Washoe Tribe of Nevada & California seeks a Tribal Prosecutor to manage prosecution of adult criminal and juvenile delinquency matters, provide legal services to Social Services, and support the Healing to Wellness Drug Court. The role requires handling sensitive information with strict confidentiality and working under the general counsel.

Responsibilities include reviewing cases, presenting in tribal court, advising law enforcement and social services, and negotiating settlements.

Formación

• Licensed to practice law in good standing with a state bar and a JD.
• Experience providing legal counsel in a court setting.
• At least one year of trial work as a prosecutor or district attorney.
• Valid CA or NV driver’s license or ability to obtain one within 30 days.
• Willing and able to pass background checks and screenings.

Responsabilidades

• Review and investigate cases and reports; sign charges when prosecutable.
• Prepare and present cases for prosecution and adjudication.
• Provide legal advice to police, probation, social services, and other agencies.
• Represent the Tribe in criminal trials, juvenile matters, and ICAs on criminal appeals.
• Draft court orders with accurate case and sentencing details.
• Conduct witness interviews and negotiate settlements when appropriate.
