Job summary

The United States Trustee Program (USTP) seeks an attorney with extensive litigation and bankruptcy law experience to oversee bankruptcy cases across Regions and field offices. The role includes litigating enforcement matters, supervising private trustees, handling appellate matters, and collaborating on national policy initiatives.

Typical duties include managing district bankruptcy caseloads, litigating in chapter 11 matters, and partnering with federal and state agencies.

Qualifications

• Experience in litigation and bankruptcy law.
• Appellate matters experience preferred.
• Ability to oversee bankruptcy cases in multiple districts.

Responsibilities

• Overseeing the administration of bankruptcy cases filed in the regions and districts.
• Litigating issues in chapter 11 cases including corporate governance, employment applications, fee applications, disclosure statements, and plan confirmation.
• Litigating civil enforcement matters in consumer bankruptcy cases, including discharge objections and dismissal proceedings.
• Assisting with appellate matters arising in the Region and District.
• Collaborating with the Executive Office and UST on national issues to support local mission and policy uniformity.
• Supervising private trustees who administer cases under various chapters of the Bankruptcy Code.
• Working with bankruptcy Auditors, Paralegal Specialists, and support staff in the Region.
• Cooperating with law enforcement to report criminal activity identified through bankruptcy oversight.
• Conducting outreach to stakeholders in the bankruptcy system (court, bar, agencies).
• Participating in national projects and priorities as assigned.
