Job summary

Trustpoint.One, a well-established boutique appellate law firm in Detroit, seeks an Appellate Attorney to join its growing team. This role targets attorneys with 4+ years of legal experience who will work on sophisticated appellate matters before state and federal courts, refining research, writing, and oral advocacy.

The position is on-site initially with potential for remote flexibility; a robust bonus package accompanies a competitive base salary of $110,000-$130,000 DOE and excellent

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
• 4+ years of legal experience.
• Active license and good standing with at least one state bar.
• Appellate experience strongly preferred, but not required.
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
• Strong attention to detail, particularly with citations and court rules.
• Familiarity with state and/or federal appellate procedures is a plus.
• Judicial clerkship experience is a plus.
• Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.
• Professional judgment, strong organization, and a willingness to learn and grow.

Responsibilities

• Review trial court records, transcripts, and filings to identify potential appellate issues.
• Conduct extensive legal research and analyze statutes, regulations, and case law.
• Draft and edit appellate briefs, motions, petitions, and related legal documents.
• Assist with developing appellate strategy and legal arguments.
• Cite-check and proofread briefs for accuracy, consistency, and compliance with court rules.
• Assist with preparation for oral arguments, including argument outlines and moot court.
• Monitor appellate deadlines and procedural requirements.
• Collaborate with trial counsel and senior appellate attorneys.
• Maintain high-quality, detail-oriented work product throughout the appellate process.
