Job summary

University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law in Stockton, California seeks a qualified candidate to join our faculty as a practicing academic with strong trial-law experience.

The position requires a J.D., at least three years of post‑J.D. legal practice (trial experience preferred) and experience supervising or mentoring law students or new graduates; membership in a state bar is expected.

Minimum Qualifications

Holds a Juris-Doctor (J.D.) degree. Has three (3) years of post-J.D. legal experience, including significant experience as a trial lawyer, criminal or civil. Has three (3) years experience working with law students or recent law school graduates as a supervisor, mentor, teacher, or instructor. Holds membership in a state bar association.

Preferred Qualifications

Has a record of involvement in national and state advocacy organizations such as the National Institute for Trial Advocacy ( NITA ), Legal Aid Services of California ( LAAC ), and the National Association of Legal Advocacy Educators ( NALAE ). Communicates effectively.

• Possesses outstanding interpersonal skills. Promotes the vision, mission, and core values of McGeorge School of Law. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
