Wisconsin Institute of Functional Medicine in Appleton, WI is seeking a Triage RN to serve as the clinical coordinator between patients, providers, pharmacies, and labs. This role emphasizes triage, documentation, and care plan implementation rather than bedside nursing.
You will manage 100+ patient portal messages daily, review symptoms, process medication refills, and enter orders into the EHR while following provider protocols.
This is not a traditional nursing role. The Triage RN serves as a central hub between patients, providers, pharmacies, laboratories, and specialty testing facilities. Success in this role requires strong clinical judgement, exceptional organization, comfort with technology, and the ability to manage a high volume of patient communication while maintaining a 5-star patient experience. While there is some direct patient interaction, the majority of the role is computer-based and focused on triage, clinical coordination, documentation, care plan implementation, and provider support. This position is ideal for nurses who enjoy critical thinking, problem-solving, and managing complex clinical workflows. It is less focused on bedside nursing and more focused on being an operational and clinical quarterback for patient care.
