Job summary

Gift of Life Michigan is seeking a Triage Coordinator to oversee all dispatch activity and referral management within the Donation Logistics Department. You determine timing and resource allocation during case investigation and assign staff for donation approach.

In this fast-paced role you will document information in the EMR, coordinate with hospital staff, and ensure timeliness of referrals while maintaining confidentiality and high professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Must be a registered nurse, paramedic, or other healthcare training with at least 18 months of OPO experience.
  • CPTC Certification is preferred.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
  • Strong organizational, prioritization, and time-management skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Teams) and other business systems.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee referral case activities and manage referral logistics to approach using the organizational dashboard.
  • Coordinate resources and logistics for organ referral activity to ensure timely responses on all active referrals.
  • Accurately document all required information into Gift of Life’s EMR including coding, imminent and eligible outcomes.
  • Initiate authorization or pause conversation with family and/or hospital staff related to organ donation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job description

Summary

In alignment with Gift of Life Michigan’s core purpose and core values, the Triage Coordinator (TC) oversees all dispatch activity and referral management prior to approach within the Donation Logistics Department. The TC determines appropriate timing and resource allocation during case investigation, ensures referral timeliness standards are met and assigns the appropriate staff for the donation approach.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversee referral case activities and manage referral logistics to approach using the organizational dashboard.
  • Coordinate resources and logistics for organ referral activity, including needs for staff utilization and dispatch, to ensure timely responses on all active referrals.
  • Accurately document all required information into Gift of Life’s EMR including coding, imminent and eligible outcomes.
  • Initiate authorization or pause conversation with family and/or hospital staff related to organ donation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and/or Experience
Required
  • Registered nurse, paramedic, or other healthcare training with at least 18 months of Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) experience.
Preferred
  • Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) Certification.

  • Written and verbal fluency in English.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook and Teams and other technology systems used in business operations.
