Why Join Us?

Part of News Corp, The U.S. Sun has quickly become a dominant force in digital journalism, delivering exclusive content on news, entertainment, lifestyle, and more. Since our US launch in 2020, we've exceeded traffic and revenue goals, establishing ourselves as the fastest-growing news site in the US.

What’s the Role?

As Trends Editor you will lead a team to produce high-quality multi-platform content that resonates with our audience. You will collaborate with other department heads to maximize output and gather insights. You will identify and break national stories involving major retailers, legislation, policy, and everyday issues affecting Americans. You will assign, edit, and publish stories covering a variety of topics including trending news, health, lifestyle, motors, tech, and travel. You will develop SEO and search-driven content strategies to increase readership and search visibility, create trend-focused coverage and optimized headlines. You will monitor analytics, Google Trends, Parsley, and audience performance to guide editorial decisions while ensuring accuracy, speed and editorial standards in a high-volume breaking news environment.

What You’ll Do:
  • Pulse of trending news: The Trends Editor is “in-the-know” on the latest events and is able to turn that into high-quality stories quickly and accurately across various verticals such as lifestyle, motors, tech, and general news of the day.
  • Story Development: You are skilled at identifying topics which people want to click on, read, and talk about, and have a knack for crafting a punchy headline. You are experienced at conducting on-camera interviews when needed.
  • Editorial Quality: You will oversee coverage that will help readers understand the trending stories of the day. You’ll work closely with reporters to develop same-day stories, as well as original, exclusive reports, by ensuring all content produced by your team meets legal and ethical standards and upholds the editorial quality of The U.S. Sun.
  • Work Across Teams: You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams, from video to social media, ensuring maximum audience reach and engagement.
  • Content Optimization: Edit copy to ensure it’s compelling and true to The U.S. Sun’s voice.
  • Maximize Traffic: Use your understanding of analytics to spot trending stories that resonate with our audience.
Who You Are:
  • Experienced Journalist: At least 3-5 years of digital journalism experience and a background managing a team of journalists.
  • Skilled writer: You are a compelling storyteller and can write concisely and engagingly, ensuring every story captures the reader’s attention.
  • Tech-savvy: Experience with analytics tools, SEO, social media, and strategies for growing a digital audience.
  • Legal and Compliance-Aware: Comfortable ensuring all content meets legal and ethical standards.
  • Fast-Paced Thinker: Ability to thrive under pressure, making quick decisions, and adapting in a fast-moving newsroom.
What’s in It for You:
  • Salary: Competitive Salary based on experience with excellent benefits, including healthcare, dental, and 401K.
  • Career Growth: Take on a leading role in a dynamic newsroom with exciting career opportunities.
  • Prime Location: Work from our Midtown Manhattan office with access to a subsidized restaurant and fitness center.
  • Base Pay Range: 81000 - 91000
