Job summary

The City of Charlotte is seeking a dedicated Arborist/Landscape Worker to join the Landscape Management Division of the General Services Department. You will assist crews in pruning and maintaining city street trees, operate bucket trucks, chippers, and hand tools, and help keep job sites safe and clean.

This full-time position requires a valid NC CDL Class B (air brake endorsement) or SC equivalent, a good driving record, and 1–3 years of tree maintenance experience.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1–3 years of experience in tree maintenance operations.

Responsibilities

• Prune and remove trees up to 100 ft safely.
• Operate bucket trucks of varying heights.
• Operate chippers, chain saws, hand saws, pole saws and related equipment.
• Assist in ground operations: chip brush, flag traffic, load/unload gear.
• Ensure a safe and clean job site per safety guidelines.
• Maintain tools and equipment and report repairs.
• Interact professionally with residents and City staff in the field.
• Work outdoors year-round in varied weather; participate in on-call storm cleanup.
