Job summary

Dennis’ 7 Dees in Lake Oswego is seeking a Tree & Shrub Department Lead to inspire customers, uphold the highest standards of quality, and design beautiful, sales-driven displays. You will provide expert horticultural advice, assist with purchasing and inventory, train staff on product features, and collaborate with management to deliver outstanding service in all weather and throughout the year.

This is a full-time, year-round role with growth opportunities within our family-owned garden

Qualifications

• Strong horticulture knowledge related to your department's product categories.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a garden center or similar retail environment.
• 1 year of sales experience minimum, with a proven ability to engage customers and drive sales.
• 1 year of cashier experience.
• Familiarity with inventory management processes and POS systems.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds and push/pull up to 200 pounds with castors.
• Ability to perform continuous walking, grasping, hearing, handling, and feeling.
• Ability to frequently stoop, talk, reach, bend, and kneel.

Responsibilities

• Support senior department leads in purchasing functions by providing product insights, sales trends, and inventory feedback for your department.
• Deliver memorable customer service by utilizing horticultural knowledge and sales skills.
• Plan and execute engaging and strategic merchandise layouts that drive sales and enhance customer experience.
• Educate staff on marketing initiatives, product features, and horticultural care standards to ensure consistent and informed customer interactions.
• Maintain department inventory accuracy, including pricing updates and special order coordination.
• Work collaboratively with store management and other department leads to achieve sales goals and operational excellence.
• Perform duties both indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.

In this role, you will provide expert horticultural advice, maintain the health and presentation of our products, design beautiful and engaging displays, and collaborate with team members to support purchasing functions. As a leader in our store, you will influence our reputation as a trusted resource for gardening enthusiasts and help drive our mission of excellence in the industry.

Work Schedule and Environment

• This position is located at our Lake Oswego garden center location.
• Hours of operation are 9am-6pm, 7 days a week.
• Schedules are not static and open availability is strongly preferred.
• This is a full-time, year round position. 20-40 weekly hours dependent on season and workload.
